Arsenal begin the January transfer window with one name heading out – Sead Kolasinac.
FC Schalke will be taking on the final six months of his contract with the Gunners.
The Bosnian never really established himself at North London following his free move in 2016. Arsene Wenger brought him in to be the starting left-back but he was anything since. Falling behind both Nacho Monreal and Kieran Tierney, Kolasinac failed to live up to his early hype.
Mikel Arteta could not rejuvenate him either like the manager did with so many other players in this Arsenal side. Kolasinac made 113 appearances for Arsenal. His best form came in Arsenal’s path to the 2019 Europa League final.
Technical director Edu Gaspar said, “Sead needs to be playing regularly, so we have decided together that a move back to Germany with Schalke will benefit him at this moment. We will be keeping in close contact with Sead, and wish him huge success for the remainder of the season with Schalke.”
Now, Arsenal will be looking at further exits to thin down their bloated squad. Plenty of players could be heading out in January to make way for newer additions.
