Arsenal eyeing a move for Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan.
The Man City midfielder will be out of contract in the summer and his future with the Cityzens remains uncertain.
Barcelona and Arsenal both hold a firm interest in the player but the prospect of playing alongside Mikel Arteta could tempt the German midfielder.
A player like Gundogan could elevate Arsenal’s midfield to higher levels and would straight away fit into the left-sided No.8 role.
Owen Hargreaves believes the veteran midfielder will be a great addition to Arteta’s XI.
“A fabulous football player,” said Hargreaves. “He can play in so many different positions. Remember that season when he was almost their goalscorer?
“He can play as a centre-forward. Deep midfielder. Box-to-box. He is almost the perfect Pep player, Ilkay Gundogan, with no ego. No opinion. He can be dropped and sit on the bench.
“I think Gundogan sets the tone for what Pep wants from these players. He doesn’t want divas. You look at Cancelo. There is something there that he didn’t like and he was gone.”
