Looks like Mesut Ozil is making good use of his salary – and this isn’t the first time.

The Arsenal player has donated another £80,000 to a charity in Turkey to help all those struggling during the Ramadan period in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. The money he has donated will be used to supply food to 16,000 Muslims in Turkey and Syria.

Although Ozil is German, his family is from Turkey and he has put forward this money to help his fellow Muslims out, by providing food for iftar. Iftar is food which is consumed by the day-end, to end the fasting period for the day. Over 2000 food packs have been prepared and are going to be sent out soon to families.

Kerem Kinik, a member of the Turkish Red Crescent (where Ozil donated the money), has expressed his gratitude towards the German footballer.

‘At the Red Crescent, we stand by those in need 365 days a year,’ he said, as reported by the Daily Sabah. ‘Of course, we do this thanks to donations made by philanthropist friends who follow our work. As donations increase, we will be able to reach even more people in need.

‘Thanks to our brother Mesut, we will be able to deliver packages provided to people in need – delivering them as soon as possible.
