Ozil's agent gives a major update on his Arsenal future

When Arsene Wenger broke his 18 year managerial transfer record and signed Mesut Ozil in 2014, there was hope in the Arsenal camp.

Wenger was known for his sense of economics and profit in a crazy transfer market and hardly ever paid up for players. He had lost many good players to that and so to watch him break Arsenal’s transfer record and sign Ozil from Real Madrid was a breath of fresh air in the Gunners camp.

However, that joy was short-lived as the player began to display how irrationaly inconsistent he was despite an abundance of talent. The situation was still salvagable as Ozil was not the worst signing by far. However, with the departure of Sanchez in 2018 January, Arsenal feared losing Ozil on a free too.

So his agent and the player coerced Arsenal into giving him a bumper contract which saw him earn over $430,000 a week at the club – the second highest back then and the highest wage noe for a player!

The contract runs into 2021 and Arsenal are now stuck with him. He is not producing anything near a player of that wage and calibre should produce and his agent and the player are smart enough to hide their greed for money under ‘I care for Arsenal’ banner by not wanting to leave the club yet refusing to take a drop in any form of pay cut.

His agent has now confirmed that the player will be seeing out the rest of the contract despite interest from other clubs. It means Arsenal have no option but to be stuck with him.

“Mesut has a one-year contract. There will be no change in this regard,” his agent Erkut Sogut told beIN Sports.

“So what happens next, time will show. Mesut will be 32 years old and will have a few more years in his career.

“Mesut and his family will make a decision. It will be the best of all.

“I cannot speak about Mesut and Fenerbahce because I have no right to speak on this matter according to the principle of confidentiality.”

Well played, Ozil, you played Arsenal the best.
