Ozil's future update might wipe Arsenal off the map

Mesut Ozil has been a figure of much controversy and debate ever since his move to Arsenal from Real Madrid.

The gifted playmaker made a once record move to Arsenal and given his prodigal talent, he was expected to be the main man in attack for years to come at the club.

To be honest he has indeed racked up an impressive numbers record with his assists at the club but regular watchers of Arsenal’s matches will know how often Ozil has disappeared – especially in big moments.

The club however, probably made their biggest mistake when in a situation of panic, they handed out an ageing Ozil a £350,000 per week contract for four years.

The contract still has a year and a half left to go and Arsenal despite all their effort in the last year or so have not been able to move him on owing to his staggering wages.

If the Gunners fans were hoping that this summer they could finally find some respite, Ozil’s agent has revised the player’s intent to stay at the Emirates till the end of his contract next summer. That is a possible hit of over £22 million in just a year’s time over a player who Arteta cannot play twice a week.

With CL hopes going away, and Arsenal having to make budget cuts by selling big players, will this Ozil contract prove to be the final nail on the coffin on Arsenal being a big club?
