Partey deal hits a stumbling block

Thomas Partey to Arsenal seemed more and more like a likely deal as the weeks progress into summer.

However, it now appears to have hit a stumbling block putting the whole deal in jeopardy. Partey has a pretty high valuation fee based and it appears to have hit a low.

Arsenal are desperately short in funds. They were hoping to bring in Partey however, by using him in an exchange deal. The plan was to use Alexandre Lacazette in a swap deal and get Partey.

However, it has now been put on hold as Atletico Madrid are unwilling to bring in Lacazette, meaning Arsenal might have to pay the entrie transfer fees if they want to sign Partey.

Spanish football hunter Graham Hunter has now given his view on the deal.

“Atleti are currently outside of the top four only by a point, but to not get into the Champions League next season would be very debilitating for the club financially,” he told Sky Sports.

“There’s a need for goals, but whether Lacazette has all the requisites and the right age profile is questionable.

“If you look at the majority of strikers they’ve purchased in their recent history, they tend to be in their very early 20s and they pick well.

Lacazette has got the talent and the pace, there’s no question about that, but whether he’s what Atleti need right now with his salary, I’d be a little unsure.”
