The Gunners are still searching for their next permanent manager after firing Unai Emery.
They already stated Freddie Ljungberg has been promoted on an interim basis. Even though the Swede collected his first win against West Ham, he is highly unlikely to stay at the job for good.
“They (Arsenal) like his profile, not just as a coach but also as a person,” Sousa’s represetative told L’Equipe (via GFFN). “This does not mean that he will leave. They are in talks with multiple candidates but Paulo is part of that list, certainly. Between the two, it could work.
“But with all the problems currently ongoing at Bordeaux, why wouldn’t he leave? The project is not what was promised to him, that is a fact. He loves the fans but he needs more from the board, the team is not strong enough to finish in the top 6.”
Bordeaux sit fifth in the Ligue 1 but only five point about the 15th spot. Sousa is sceptical about achieving an European spot with the squad provided to him. Compared to that, Arsenal have a much better team for their domestic objectives.
David Ornstein already revealed Arsenal have picked a few candidates as their next manager. Sousa seems to be on that list as the backroom staff narrows down on just one coach.
