Petr Cech wants to win the Europa League with Arsenal before he retires at the end of the season

Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech reveals that winning the Europa League would be an ideal scenario for him as he nears retirement from football at the end of this season.

The former Chelsea stopper hopes winning this competition would be a perfect send-off for him as he bid adieu to his fantastic playing career.

The 36-year-old has lost his first-choice position in Unai Emery’s team, but remain Arsenal‘s man between the sticks in cup competitions and Europa League.

Speaking to the media ahead of the Gunners trip to play BATE Borisov in the first leg of the Europa League round-of-32, Cech said:

“Of course that [winning the tournament again] would be an ideal scenario for me to finish my career.

“We prepare every day for every competition and that is what we are aiming for.

“We try to win every game and progress step by step and as a club it is important for us to try to go as far as possible. Winning the Europa League is a great memory for everyone involved and secondly it can book you a place in the Champions League, so there is a lot to play for.”

Arsenal‘s next two is this two-legged tie against BATE – one tonight and one next Thursday, as they aim to get into the next round of this competition.
