Arsenal had a very busy summer as Unai Emery was appointed as the new manager of the club after Arsene Wenger decided to leave the club after 22 years. The Spaniard signed a three-year deal worth £15 million.
The Gunners didn’t got off to a great start as they have begun life under the new manager with back-to-back defeats against their big rivals Chelsea and Manchester City. But won their next three fixtures against West Ham United, Cardiff City and Newcastle United.
The London Outfit won for the fourth match in a row against Ukrainian minnows Vorskla at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night. Despite winning the match comfortably, they conceded 2 late goals in the last 15 minutes and have also struggled defensively in the Premier League this season.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants Arsenal to improve defensively if they wants to win the Europa League this term. He started the match on Thursday night and was very impressive, bagging a brace.
“I think we played well in the first half and at the beginning of the second as well and we scored four goals,” said Aubameyang as quoted by Mirror. “But we need to improve and fight to not concede goals like we did in the last few minutes.”
On the Europa League, he added: “Of course we want to win it [the Europa League], especially for me because I didn’t play in the competition last year and I am really happy to be back in this competition.
“We want to go to the final of course, it is an objective and hopefully we will do well in our next games.
“We know that the Premier League is long, there are a lot of games, but these ones we need to win straight away.
“We have to perform quickly so it is good to start with a win and the next game will be important for us also.”
