Ilkay Gundogan has been linked with Arsenal this summer.
The Gunners are eyeing a move for Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan when his contract expires at the end of this season.
A player like Gundogan could elevate Arsenal’s midfield to higher levels and would straight away fit into the left-sided No.8 role.
He has spent a successful period of his career at the Etihad and has contributed to 98 goals in his seven seasons there.
He will follow in the footsteps of former teammates Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko if he decides to move to Emirates.
Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood doubts the German midfielder would move to the North London club.
“Where’s he going to go? I can’t see him playing for another Premier League side,” he said.
“I know Mikel Arteta wants to take him, he knows the player inside-out, he’ll fit into anyone’s team.
“I think if Barcelona come in or Real Madrid I think he’s got to jump and take that opportunity as he’s done it all here.”
