Emile Smith Rowe could force a move away this January.

The arrival of Kai Havertz this summer has pushed Smith Rowe further down the pecking order.

The academy graduate has been a regular at the Emirates since Mikel Arteta took charge in December 2019.

The Englishman has returned from a long-term injury and has been struggling to earn a regular spot in the Arsenal squad.

The likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United are interested in the 23-year-old midfielder but they want him on loan.

Arsenal, on the other hand, wants to sell Smith Rowe permanently instead of sending him out on loan.

Fabrizio Romano explains the midfielder’s situation at Arsenal and whether he will push for a move this January.

“This (Smith Rowe) is a name that keeps coming up, but again I’m not aware of any concrete talk at this stage with Newcastle, let’s see closer to the January window. As I always mentioned, Newcastle are not advancing on any signing now as it’s crucial for them to understand if they will be in UCL in the second part of the season before moving,” Romano wrote.
