The latest set of reports from France Football claim that Real Madrid have made enquiries about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
It is a known fact that Arsenal only have one more season with the Gabon international with reports of several other clubs interested in him.
Barcelona came close to signing him outright in January but then deferred from that decision. Now, it is none other than their rivals, Real Madrid asking questions about the forward. Aubameyang has not thrown a fit or expressed any interest in leaving just yet.
He arrived for €64m in 2018 and is yet to win a trophy with the Gunners. He has racked up a terrific tally of 61 goals and 13 assists in 97 appearances for Arsenal, winning the Premier League Golden Boot last season. If anything, Aubameyang is undeniably one of the best strikers out there and deserves to be in a winning environment.
Unfortunately, after Arsene Wenger’s departure and a horrific stretch under Unai Emery, the Gunners are still in a rebuilding phase and cannot guarantee higher honours just yet. This has allowed foreign outfits to try and take advantage of the situation and prize Aubameyang out of the Emirates.
Negotiations are currently ongoing regarding the 31-year-old’s North London future. It will be difficult to match his contract demands after three seasons outside of the Champions League and the recent Coronavirus outbreak. Arsenal, like every other Premier League organization, are suffering the brunts of this temporary halt in footballing operations.
After the Aaron Ramsey saga last summer, Arsenal cannot afford to lose another top player for nothing. Hence, we cannot rule out a sale altogether with Aubameyang reported to be worth around €50m right now.
