Arsenal should be concerned over keeping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for longer as the latest reports claim that Real Madrid have taken an interest in the striker.
The 29-year-old is the Gunners’ leading scorer this season with 22 goals in 42 appearances. He was signed for £56m in January 2018 by former manager, Arsene Wenger.
Now, as speculation starts to build over the future signings the La Liga giants could make, it seems like Aubameyang’s name has been entered into their summer shortlist.
Zinedine Zidane is already expected to receive a giant treasure chest for an overhaul of quality players. The Arsenal forward certainly fits the bill of a marquee signing and could offer more scoring threat up front.
Unai Emery’s side is firmly in the running for a top-four Premier League spot but they still have to fight off the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and even Tottenham Hotspur.
They are due to face Watford on Monday after an impressive Europa League showing against Napoli at the Emirates. Aubameyang is their most important attacking talisman next to Alexandre Lacazette.
If an attractive offer were to come in for the Gabon international, it is still unclear whether the North London outfit will accept. Arsenal instead will need to get rid of a lot of deadweights like Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil’s mammoth sized contract.
