Arsenal’s 15-year-old sensation, Max Dowman, is attracting significant attention from one of the world’s biggest clubs, with Real Madrid reportedly sending scouts to monitor the youngster during England’s ongoing international matches.

Arsenal’s Max Dowman Becomes a Top Transfer Target for Real Madrid

According to reports, scouts from the Spanish giants were left “purring” after watching Dowman’s performances for the England U19s during the September international break.

Their interest has intensified, with a delegation from Real Madrid scheduled to attend the Young Lions’ fixtures against Belgium and Wales this October to further assess the attacking midfielder.

Despite being only 15 and yet to complete his GCSEs, Dowman’s development has been meteoric.

He has already been integrated into Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans, making three senior appearances for the Gunners since the start of the season and becoming the second-youngest player in Premier League history in August.

His composure at the highest level has impressed senior Arsenal players, with midfielder Declan Rice expressing his astonishment, stating,

“I’ve never seen a 15-year-old so comfortable around the first team,” and calling him “the best 15-year-old in the country”.

Arsenal is acutely aware of Dowman’s potential and is taking a carefully managed approach to his development.

The club is balancing his first-team exposure with protective measures, including specific restrictions on his training load, diet, and even his use of the senior dressing room in line with Premier League safeguarding rules.

Manager Mikel Arteta emphasized the holistic management of the teenager’s routine, schedule, and family setup.

The club is also leveraging the mentorship of captain Martin Odegaard, who himself was a teenage prodigy, to guide Dowman through the pressures of early fame.

However, a significant challenge for Arsenal is that FIFA regulations prevent Dowman from signing a professional contract until he turns 17 in December 2026.

This leaves a considerable period where the wonderkid remains on a scholarship deal, potentially making him a target for elite clubs like Real Madrid, who have a history of poaching top young talent.

This is not the first time Real Madrid has shown interest in an Arsenal star, following their previously reported interest in defender William Saliba, who subsequently committed his long-term future to the Gunners.

For now, Dowman could be involved when Arsenal travel across London to face Fulham in the Premier League this Saturday.
