The German signed with the Gunners a year back after facing a similar situation with Borussia Dortmund. He had suggested the Bundesliga side to pursue a deal for Oliver Torres but BVB chose to act otherwise.
This infuriated Mislintat who had personally vetted Torres over months. Speaking to the press he was quoted, “We all decided together to get this player. All the work was done, Oliver fought for his change. But then our coach did not want him anymore. For me, the point of no return was reached.”
“When I connect with a player, he needs to know that I’m there for him. It was about credibility. The thing has not even escalated. I was only told at some point that I should no longer appear in the environment of the coaching team and the team.”
Now, Unai Emery has constantly requested for the transfers of a veteran Ever Banega and Denis Suarez, players that he has previously worked with and is well accustomed to his playing style. Mislintat does not have a positive opinion regarding this approach while his suggestions for player recruitment has been ignored as well.
