Reiss nelson wants to follow the footsteps of Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The Arsenal youngster moved to Hoffenheim on a season long loan and made a blistering start to his Bundesliga career. But the 19 year old has failed to build on his earlier success as game time has been very limited for the winger since the start of this year.
Nelson’s countryman Jadon Sancho has been a revelation for Borussia Dortmund as the former Manchester City man has managed to make his mark in a very small time. Sancho’s rapid rise also saw him being selected in Gareth Southgate’s side.
Same goes for Chelsea winger Hudson-Odoi. Despite not starting a single match in the top flight this term his encouraging form has compelled Southgate to name him in the England squad.
Nelson wants to use Hudson-Odoi’s brilliant resurgence to fulfil his wishlist. “I’ve played against him in the youth league when he was at Chelsea.
“It’s very inspiring, just wants to make you push even more, train even harder and get to that level.”
“Per’s just been very direct to me, telling me it’s not always about football sometimes it’s about off the pitch.
“He tells me ‘you’re learning a new language, new environment, just keep up with your performances’.”
