Arsenal will hand a new one-year deal to Mohamed Elneny as a reward for his decent form in the last few weeks

In the final stages of the season, the Egyptian has returned from the cold to become an unsung hero for the Gunners.

With Thomas Partey out and Albert Sambi Lokonga struggling for form since joining the club, Arteta decided to give Elneny another chance, which he gladly accepted.

Elneny has no choice but to stay at the Emirates, based on his current form.

When Partey returns to full fitness, he may not play as often, but the top teams in the world have squad depth, which allows them to remain competitive and win championships. We would have the luxury of having a tried and trusted midfielder in the team if we kept Elneny.

Hopefully, this agreement will be completed shortly, allowing us to concentrate on recruiting new players for the team.

It’s a great deal for both Arsenal and Elneny. He wanted to stay at Arsenal, and with Europa League matches on the horizon, the team will require a larger squad next season. He’s a terrific professional and a great presence on the practise field, according to all sources.

On some levels, Arsenal just want quality players to rotate in for smaller games so that players like Thomas Partey, who has battled to keep healthy, can remain fresh. Players that are well rested are less prone to sustain injuries. Elneny is capable of playing Europa League group stage matches with Sambi Lokonga or Granit Xhaka (assuming he remains at the club), early-round cup fixtures, and Premier League games against the bottom third.
