The Gunners legend who has spent a fair bit of time around the club grounds this term could be a huge addition to the side. Just recently it got revealed that Edu is being appointed as the club’s technical director.
Freddie Ljungberg is already a manager of the club’s U23 side. It seems like ‘the Invincibles’ are all returning to the club, ready to use their winning experience for the club’s betterment.
It is currently unclear which position Pires would be filling up but the Gunners fans will be thrilled to hear about his involvement in the club matters. The Frenchman was one of the best wingers back in his day and was a key cog in Arsenal’s unbeaten 2003/04 Premier League season.
Arsenal are subjected to heavy criticism due to the lack of trophies over the past decade but Pires has always offered nothing but support towards the club. He has been noticed hanging around the training ground this season, trying to keep up his fitness at 45 years old.
He hopefully will be able to have an impact the Gunners academy products, Reiss Nelson, Xavier Amaechi, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka, all off whom are budding wingers fighting for a spot in the senior side.
Overall it is always pleasant to see intelligent heads who really care for the club. With Arsenal’s recent change in management, it is always necessary to keep reminders like Pires of the club’s actual dreams and aspirations.
