The player has been linked with a move to the Emirates this summer and the former Gunner believes he could be a good addition into Unai Emery’s squad.
When asked about Arsenal’s rising interest in the youngster, Pires said, “Ismaila Sarr? It would not hurt Arsenal to sign him, but I do not know his price [laughs]. He has the profile to evolve at the Gunners. He would adapt quickly to the way of play wanted by Unai Emery.”
“He is a wide player, a dribbler who runs fast and is able to score. I appreciate him very much. Rennes has good players. That’s why I’m not surprised by their performance in the first leg.”
Even Patrick Vieira voiced his support for the Ligue 1 outfit who shocked Arsenal with a 3-1 win in the opening stage of the knockout fixture.
While most of their players have gained the attention of other European outfits, Sarr seems to be their most valuable asset currently. Rennes is demanding £20m for the Senegal international who has netted the ball on 10 occasions this season.
Arsenal are in dire need of a wide player and Pires seems to have already advocated for the 21-year-old’s talents. Could he be the perfect addition next to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in the Gunners final third?
