Fabrizio Romano has revealed in his GIVEMESPORT transfer newsletter that Arsenal may have received a boost in their pursuit of Ollie Watkins, but the team’s quest for a striker is still ongoing as they seek to add a lucky charm to their Premier League title push. The West Midlands is in turmoil after the Aston Villa star was extensively connected on Wednesday night, just hours before Villa’s Champions League home match against Celtic. Arsenal is rumored to have made a £60 million offer for his services.
Although personal terms are not a concern, Romano disclosed in his newsletter that they have other names on their list in case the Villa striker is unable to travel to north London. According to Romano, Watkins has previously acknowledged that Arsenal would be his “dream move” since his Brentford days. Since the Gunners have made an attempt to sign him, Watkins might be tempted.
Ollie Watkins Would be Ideal For Arsenal
They were obviously short before then, but they also lost Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka to injuries. Sesko’s new deal with Leipzig last summer led them to decide against acquiring a striker. The circumstances surrounding Watkins are somewhat complex. Although he has stated that playing for Arsenal would be his goal, I believe he is open to joining the team and would enjoy the transfer.
Compared to Watkins, Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha would be a more accessible target and is also interested in joining Arsenal. Arteta’s team, in dire need of an attacker to contend for the Premier League and Champions League titles, would have been perfectly happy to recruit Watkins. Arsenal may pay £67 million to sign a “special” player who has scored 10 goals this season.
