Bayern Munich Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic has played down the rumours linking James Rodriguez with Arsenal. The player has been used in a bits and pieces role by current manager Niko Kovac and has been tipped for a move away from the club in January. However, Salihamidzic has now cleared the air about the player’s future, who is currently serving the last six months of a two-year loan stint from Real Madrid and has said that the Bundesliga champions are looking to make the move permanent.
When asked about whether Rodriguez has a future at the club or not, he said, “We will look at the second half of the season and we will draw the right conclusions.”
He added, “This is not Bayern’s style. If we decide to sign a player, then he also remains a part of Bayern.”
With Arsenal manager Unai Emery already making it clear that the club will look to bring in players on loan, James Rodriguez could have been a very important acquisition for them on a loan that would last until the end of the season. However, with the Bayern Sporting Director making it clear that they would not let the Colombian superstar leave, the Gunners would have to turn their attention elsewhere.
