Barcelona are really pursuing Shkodran Mustafi and a transfer might happen next month.
Sport BILD reports that Barca are considering him as a cheap alternative to the injured Gerard Pique.
Mustafi is up for sale after all since he rejected the contract extension and has only six months left on his current deal. The German has communicated his desire to leave and might get just that in January.
However, to Barcelona? Not many would have thought of it considering how difficult it has been to sell Mustafi in the previous seasons. His period at North London has been nothing short of a disaster. Arsenal signed him for £35m and got an error-prone defender in return.
Mustafi did manage to recover some of his dampened reputation last season under Mikel Arteta. He put in some solid displays before getting injured and returning back to his old self.
Now, he has hardly featured in 2020/21 and is ready to end his Arsenal career. Whether that will be in January or June, remains to be seen. If Barca do come for Mustafi, it is likely that they will come on an immediate basis even if it costs a minute transfer fee.
