Silkeborg’s Oliver Sonne Dreams of Arsenal Move
Oliver Sonne, Silkeborg IF’s standout right-back, harbors a dream many footballers share: donning the iconic Arsenal jersey. The 23-year-old Danish defender, who recently broke into the Peruvian national team, openly expressed his admiration for the Premier League giants.
In a candid conversation with Sport Witness, Sonne shared, “I’ve been here for three years, and sometimes you want to try new things.
Playing in the Italian league or at Arsenal would be a dream, but I don’t know if it’s possible right now. I hope it becomes a reality one day.”
Sonne’s ambitions are well-founded. Last season, he featured prominently for Silkeborg, making 38 appearances and contributing four goals and five assists.
His impressive club form, tallying 94 games in all competitions over three years, didn’t go unnoticed.
Peru called him up last October, and he earned his first cap in March. Now, he boasts five international appearances.
During his tenure at Silkeborg, Sonne has showcased his skills on bigger stages, including five Europa Conference League appearances.
One of those matches saw him face West Ham United, a taste of the high-level competition he craves.
Despite his dreams, a move to Arsenal might not be immediate. The Gunners already have a solid roster of right-backs, making a switch to Serie A a more feasible next step for Sonne.
For now, Oliver Sonne remains focused on his current role at Silkeborg, but his eyes are firmly set on a future where he could grace the pitches of the Premier League. Whether in North London or Italy, his journey is one to watch.
