Arsenal are currently drawn level with Manchester United in the Premier League and are due to face 4th-placed Chelsea next weekend at the Emirates.
The Gunners recorded their 4th league defeat against West Ham United last Saturday and Sokratis Papastathopoulos believes it was because of a lack of created chances.
The Greek centre-half said, “It is not about the two shots on target,” he said. “Look at how many chances we would have had if we had done better with the last pass. Look at how many chances we had to make the last pass. This is the problem. I think we did not have what we had in the other games. We did not control the game better than them.”
Arsenal have won just one game this season against top-six opposition (4-2 home win over Tottenham Hotspur) while the Red Devils have quickly caught up to them with a run of 5 straight wins including the 0-1 showing against Spurs last night.
Sokratis has been a leading figure at the back of the Gunners lineup and believes that a win is a must in the upcoming fixture against their London rivals. He further added, “If we want to be in the top four we have to work together.”
“Chelsea is another game and we have to regroup — a lot — if we want to do something. It will be a difficult game but if we want to be up there, we have to win.
“We did not play well [against West Ham]. All the team was not like the last games. We have to work, we have to look at what our mistakes were and improve for the next games.”
