Slavia Prague praised Max Dowman as a miracle player after he created Champions League history on Tuesday night with Arsenal. Bukayo Saka scored a penalty and Mikel Merino scored twice in the second half as Mikel Arteta’s team won 3-0 in Prague to retain their flawless start to their Champions League campaign.

Dowman, on the other hand, became the youngest player in Champions League history when Arteta substituted him in the second half. Youssoufa Moukoko, who made his Champions League debut for Borussia Dortmund in December 2020 at the age of 16 years and 18 days, held the previous record, which Dowman has surpassed at 15 years and 308 days.

“I didn’t realise he was fifteen years old, but I know which player it was.” After his team’s loss against Arsenal, Lukas Provod, captain of Slavia, grinned. And congratulations to him for being the youngest player in Champions League history and coming to Eden. I think he will continue to grow as I observe him.

Max Dowman makes Champions League history

As the youngest player to ever play in the Champions League, Arsenal prodigy Max Dowman has set a new record. When the academy player went onto the pitch as a substitute against Slavia Prague, he became the first 15-year-old to appear in the actual tournament.

Following a Carabao Cup fourth-round victory over Brighton, when both players were making their first senior competitive starts, Arteta singled out Dowman and Harriman-Annous. “To be fair, it was a pretty unique evening. The manager remarked, “I’m really happy for a number of reasons.”

“Obviously, we are in the quarterfinals, and we defeated a very difficult opponent. Max and Andre made two significant debuts despite the fact that we made ten alterations and included guys who had never played together. Giving someone the chance and realising their ambition is a special experience, and I’m thrilled that everything worked out well and we won the game.”
