According to Jamie Carragher, Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, will be fired if he is unable to lead the team to success in the upcoming campaign. After slipping far behind Arne Slot’s Liverpool this season, the Gunners have lost the Premier League title chase once more.

Arsenal has had a terrible season, finishing 15 points behind its opponents in the table. In addition, even though they defeated Real Madrid in the previous round, they lost to PSG in the Champions League semi-final.

The club’s failure to sign a consistent goal scorer in either transfer window has caused the fan base to become extremely frustrated—especially with the ownership. In addition to their title collapse, Arsenal has suffered this season due to a devastating injury crisis that has prevented them from playing their key forwards Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.

However, after coming painfully close to success in recent years, Carragher thinks Arteta could be doomed if he doesn’t make any major progress or win a trophy next season.

Mikel Arteta is on the verge of being sacking by club

Carragher thinks that following Arteta’s agonizingly near run to success in recent years, another season without notable advancement or a trophy could be the end for him. “It sounds extreme to say that his next transfer window might be the last chance,” he wrote in his Daily Telegraph column. Arteta has a lot of credit, and it’s reasonable and correct that Arsenal has more opposition to managerial change than support for it.

However, he is the only one who knows that all the goodwill that went into building a winning Arsenal team is gone. If Arteta doesn’t deliver next season, his legacy will consist of years of preparation for a successor who will be asked to put the finishing touches on it.

According to reports, a new forward will arrive before the next season, which could give the team a timely boost in their quest for major honors. Nevertheless, that decision may have ultimately cost them in pivotal moments.

However, more firepower also raises expectations. And Arteta’s present level of support, even among Arsenal supporters, might start to decline if he keeps failing when it counts most.
