Sporting director Andrea Berta named Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres a top target just days after he arrived at the Emirates Stadium, and Arsenal has set their sights on starting talks to see if they can win the race for the player, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
With Declan Rice becoming the most expensive addition in the north Londoners’ history after completing a £105 million transfer from West Ham United in July 2023, the Gunners have not been afraid to spend big money under manager Mikel Arteta. However, their quest for a Premier League championship has not ended.
When the transfer window reopens in the summer, Berta is expected to spearhead Arsenal’s recruitment effort. At the end of last month, he was selected as the best candidate and given the chance to succeed Edu after several candidates were interviewed; Gyokeres is on his shortlist of targets.
Berta Wants Gunners to Seal Gyokeres Swoop
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Arsenal has set their sights on initiating negotiations to see if they can win the race for Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres, who was named a top target by Sporting director Andrea Berta just days after he arrived at the Emirates Stadium.
In July 2023, Declan Rice completed a £105 million deal from West Ham United, making him the most expensive signing in the history of the North Londoners. Since then, the Gunners have not hesitated to make large expenditures under manager Mikel Arteta. They are still in the running for a Premier League title, though.
The expectation is that Berta will lead Arsenal’s recruitment push when the transfer window reopens in the summer. Following interviews with a number of contenders, he was chosen as the best candidate at the end of last month and given the opportunity to succeed Edu; Gyokeres is on his wishlist of goals.
