An Arsenal academy product, Glen Kamara has been excelling in the Scottish Premiership under Steven Gerrard and the former England captain has admitted to how much of a bargain he is turning out to be.
Kamar was signed by Rangers for only £50,000 from Dundee FC. The 23-year-old had reportedly fallen out of favour with the manager of the Dees and was eventually brought into the Ibrox this past month.
Since his arrival, Kamara has been involved in a 0-0 showdown against St. Johnstone. He played the full 90 minutes.
When asked about the defensive midfielder, Gerrard said, “I know it’s a bargain. He’s a top player. He’s been schooled very well at Arsenal. Neil McCann also did an excellent job to take him to the next level while he was at Dundee.”
“He fell out of favour with the current manager at Dundee but thankfully we got him in the door earlier than expected and we’re benefiting from that right now.”
“He’s playing tomorrow. He just needs to go out and do what he’s been doing since he’s broken into the team, which is playing at a very high level.”
Kamara could never break into the Gunners senior squad even after making his debut for the side in October 2015 against Sheffield United.
It would please the Arsenal fans to see one of their former youngsters having an impact elsewhere, even if it is not at the Emirates.
