Arsenal boss, Unai Emery believes Dani Ceballos can take over multiple positions in his midfield setup.
The Spaniard arrived on loan this summer and completely lit up the Emirates with his astonishing creative play on Saturday.
Ceballos was bossing the Gunners midfield throughout the time he was on the pitch, dropping in deep to create attacks and supplying the forward line with key passes. He picked up assists for both of Arsenal’s goals and helped them to their first home win of the season.
It felt like the good old days of Santi Cazorla in an Arsenal shirt, who used to dictate games from the middle of the park. However, with Mesut Ozil still in the club ranks and Lucas Torreira coming back to full match fitness, we will have to wait and see how Ceballos fully fits into this Gunners side.
When asked about his ideal position, Emery said, “With him, it’s about using his quality in the best position. I spoke with him before he came here, it’s to play as an 8 & as a 10. Today, he started like a 10 but also changed with Willock in the 8 position. It’s where he can feel better on the pitch.”
Ceballos picked up the Man Of The Match award after his fitting display. After the game, he said, “Well, the truth is that for me it has been one of the most special days of my life. I think that starting at home by winning & with this passion at the end of the match, I think it will be hard to forget this day for me.”
