Ghanaian football sensation Thomas Partey is getting ready for his long-awaited return to Arsenal, according to manager Mikel Arteta. The midfield maestro, who has been out since August due to a groin injury got during training, is expected to be included in the team for the important Premier League match against Manchester City.
Partey’s absence has been felt severely by the Gunners, who last played on August 26 in a 2-2 draw against Fulham. A training incident on the day of a match against Manchester United aggravated the injury, keeping him out for six to eight weeks.
However, the midfielder has recovered quickly and has been training hard at London Colney. Arteta has confirmed that Partey is in great shape and ready to make an appearance in the next match against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium, despite the fact that he was an unused substitute in the most recent Champions League match against Lens.
“Well, he’s ahead of schedule that’s for sure,” Arteta told reporters of Partey’s condition at Friday’s pre-match press conference.
“We wanted to have him in the squad if we needed to, the way the [Lens] game panned out we had other necessities and we didn’t use him. He will be in the squad.”
Thomas Partey’s talent and prowess will be crucial to Arsenal’s midfield against a strong City team as they look to bounce back from their recent European defeat. The matchup promises to be a thrilling clash as the Gunners look to win and leave a lasting impression on the Premier League title race.
