Partey played every minute for Ghana, and he assisted on two of the team’s three goals. However, they were defeated by Morocco and the Comoros before drawing with Gabon for their lone point of the tournament.
Partey is expected to return to England and play in matches as soon as possible, according to Arsenal supporters. He should be free to return to England and finally take his position in the team for the rest of the Premier League season.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta hopes that he can call on midfielder Thomas Partey very soon. When asked during a press conference about Partey’s availability, Arteta said, per the club website:
“It was a huge disappointment for Thomas obviously because he was representing his country and in this period he had big aims towards the competition.
“He’s out now so he will be fully focused and involved with Arsenal as soon as possible.”
It’s a real shame for Partey to exit the competition at this stage, and there are no guarantees of a significant benefit to Arsenal.
After all, there are no Arsenal games scheduled between January 24th and February 10th, so the Burnley game this weekend is likely to be the only one Partey will be eligible for.
However, given the way the midfielder was performing prior to his departure, his individual performances at the tournament, and the fact that Granit Xhaka is suspended, his presence might make a significant impact in the Burnley match.
