Thomas Partey To Undergo Thigh Scan After Villa Loss

Thomas Partey is set to undergo a thigh scan following Arsenal’s shocking defeat to Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old was benched after half-time of the 3-0 loss.

He completed 36 passes during the game with an accuracy of 80.6% but could not affect his team’s performance much. Unfortunately, the night was made worse with concerns over his fitness.

“We don’t know [the extent] of it,” Arteta said after the match. “We have to scan him on Monday or the day after and see what he felt straight away. Let’s wait and see what the magnitude of the injury is.

“I don’t know [if he will go away with Ghana now]. As I said, the doctor will have to have a look at him and probably scan him. Then we will decide what to do with him.”

Partey has emerged as a transformational piece in midfield for Arsenal, collecting two man of the match awards since his arrival. Losing him would be a massive blow at this point of time, especially after the horror showing at Emirates last night.

Partey’s best qualities were on display in the 1-0 win over Manchester United last weekend. But Mikel Arteta will soon have to start adjusting his lineup with Partey in the fold. The Ghana international gives him more tactical flexibility in midfield, allowing the team to transition faster.
