The Gunners are in a difficult spot with the forward’s deal about to run out. With just one year left on his contract, Arsenal are thrown between meeting his wage demands or selling him for cash this very summer.
Plenty of clubs are interested in the Gabon international, despite him turning 31 recently. And why would they not be? He is a Premier League Golden Boot and is also competing for his second one this season, playing for a shockingly poor Arsenal side.
Adams recognizes his talents like majority of Arsenal fans and would like to see the Gunners renew his deal for longer. The former Gabon international has proven to be worth his weight in gold after scoring 61 goals in 97 appearances for Arsenal.
“Quite possibly, he (Aubameyang) could walk out the door,” Adams said. “I loved Arsene Wenger’s principles, that no player was bigger than the club, and he moved players on if it made sense for the club financially.
“He was strong with that and he got Champions League football every year but it did stand in the way of recruitment – so we have become a club that is selling the best players. If I was a coach I’d be saying ‘don’t sell Aubameyang at any price, we need to recruit, bring players through the academy and keep our best players’.”
