The English summer transfer window channel may have closed, but the European one is still open and Arsenal have still lot of work to do.

Arsneal can’t bring any new players until January, but Unai Emery might want to offload some of the pricier individuals to get rid of the dead weight with big salaries.

Here are three players that should still be sold this summer.

3. Nacho Monreal

It became apparent last season that Emery did not trust either of his starting left-back options to actually play at left-back. Kolasinac was deemed too much a defensive liability, only entrusted with a wing-back role, while Monreal’s diminishing athleticism had reached the point of no return and forced him to play at centre-back.

Now that Arsenal secured the services of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney in a €30 million deal, there many not be any need to hold on to both Monreal and Kolasinac. Monreal, who is 33-year-old and pretty much a veteran now, is in the final year of his contract and losing him without making a profit would be a loss for the Gunners.

2. Mohamed Elneny

Mohamed Elneny’s time at Arsenal has surely come to an end. His summer was somewhat disrupted by his endeavors at the African Cup of Nations, which is why a sale might have been difficult to complete before the Premier League deadline, but it seems clear that he will not be a part of Emery’s plans this year.

With the likes of Guendouzi, Ceballos and even Maitland-Niles in line, there is no need for Elneny to remain in London. And given that he is earning £50,000 per week and could fetch €15 million in the transfer window, releasing those funds to invest in other positions could be useful.

1. Shkodran Mustafi

Mustafi’s performances have not improved, in fact, they have worsened. He is still earning £90,000-a-week, and with the signing of Luiz and emergence of Chambers, is no longer needed in the squad.

Emery gave Mustafi all the chances he could for the German to figure it out last season, but error after error only compounded his ineptitude. Not only is he not good enough to start for a top-four challenging team, whenever he does, he is actually a detriment to the team. However, if opt to sell him, they would be forced to accept a substantial loss compared to the figure they paid him.
