One of the primary responsibilities, the Spaniard is expected to do upon his arrival at the Emirates is to bring in two players that he has been personally vetting for some time.
As reported by Le10Sport (via The Daily Cannon), Monchi has been laying down the foundation for Nicholas Pepe’s transfer to the North London outfit. Arsenal are already known to be monitoring the 23-year-old fiercely for the upcoming transfer window. The AS Roma Sporting Director could potentially see them through the finish line as well.
Pepe has been in spectacular form this season, netting the ball 17 times while also providing 11 assists in 29 games for LOSC Lille. Bayern Munich are reportedly competing for the Frenchman’s signature but they might be far more interested in Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Arsenal might have to shell out €50m for Pepe, as per the report.
The other player who could end up at the Emirates due to Monchi’s signing is Marcus Thuram. He is estimated to be worth around £4m in the current market, having scored 11 goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances this term. His goals against AS Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain helped Guingamp to the final of the Coupe de la Ligue.
Standing at around 6’3”, Thuram is highly versatile on the attacking front. He has featured in both left wing and centre-forward roles for the French outfit.
