Tyreece John-Jules Explains Decision To Leave Arsenal On Loan

Arsenal youngster, Tyreece John-Jules revealed why he opted to leave on loan this January.

The forward scored his first goal for Lincoln City on his debut, helping the team to a 1-0 win over Blackpool.

He is set to spend the remainder of the season with the League One outfit. First-team chances were next to impossible at North London owing to the strength of the lineup. There is no way John-Jules would have been able to break into a front three of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyamg, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.

His chances got further reduced when Mikel Arteta decided to keep 20-year-old Eddie Nketiah back at the club after his return from Leeds United.

“I didn’t want to stay playing under-23 football,” John-Jules said. “I’ve done that for two years. I wanted to challenge myself.

“The under-23 league is good but playing against grown men is a whole different thing. If you want to play in the Premier League you’ve got to play against grown men. It [League One] is much more physical, it’s not as easy. Under-23 football is much more technical and slow. Here, it’s quicker and more aggressive.”

That is certainly the right attitude to have for an 18 year old. If he continues to impress, who knows? Maybe, he will find a spot in Arteta’s newly directed Gunners team. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Reiss Nelson have already fought a way into the manager’s good books.
