Respected journalist, Lee Hurley of the Daily Cannon believes that some of Unai Emery’s problems at Paris Saint-Germain might be starting to take shape at Arsenal.
The Spanish boss is serious on bringing Adrien Rabiot to the Emirates on a free transfer next summer. However, the duo is thought to be not in the best of terms with each other since their time together at the Parc des Princes.
There have been various reports in the past regarding the friction between Emery and the 23-year-old. The Gunners manager revealed to the press after getting sacked from his managerial post at PSG, how difficult it was to coach the team due to the club’s atmosphere.
Emery spoke in detail regarding the imbalance in authority between the players and the coaches. Rabiot was one of the players who faced similar issues with the former Sevilla boss but was also a regular starter under him.
The central midfielder hailed his former coach, Laurent Blanc under whom he got to establish himself as a key figure in the PSG senior side. The question lies in whether getting Rabiot to North London will start yet another drama similar to that at the French capital.
Unai Emery’s work at Arsenal has drawn criticisms but it has mostly seen appreciation from the fans and pundits alike. He has managed to sign quality players within the budget he was allotted by the owners and has also addressed some of the club’s gaping issues.
Unfortunately, he is yet to improve the club’s abysmal defence and could offer very little in holding on to Aaron Ramsey beyond this season.
