Unai Emery has insisted an away goal won’t be enough against Napoli if Arsenal are to cruise into the Europa League semifinals.
The Gunners are carrying a solid 2-0 lead from the first leg and will have the upper hand at the Stadio San Paolo. The visitors made it possible to reach this stage due to their exemplary home form throughout the season.
Victories against Bate Borisov and Rennes at the Emirates had given the side an added advantage and the 2-0 win over the Italian side is a reflection of that. On the other side, Carlo Ancelotti’s side has also been dominating on their home turf and teams like Liverpool failed to defeat the Naples side in the Champions League earlier this season.
Emery said, “Our mentality is to think, to prepare for the match, starting the game defending when we need to, but attacking when we have the ball and we have space to do that.
“Our first target is to win, and after, of course if we score, when you score playing matches like tomorrow’s match, we can take a good advantage maybe with this goal.
“But we know it’s going to be very difficult because they can score one goal, two goals. They can score more goals because they have a lot of attacking players with this quality.”
