Unai Emery has hinted his approval of rumoured Arsenal target, Samuel Umtiti.
The Barcelona defender is in hot water with his present employers for making a couple of abysmal errors in the 4-4 La Liga match against Villareal.
He no longer is a regular starter under Ernesto Valverde, losing the spot to Clement Lenglet this season. It is being reported that Umtiti is strongly considering his future with the Blaugrana even with his contract set to run till the summer of 2022.
The France international has undergone a series of recurring injuries which is quite clearly affected his performances on the pitch. Now, with Barcelona vying for the signature of Ajax star, Matthijs de Ligt this summer, Umtiti’s time with the La Liga giants might soon come to an end.
Arsenal are looking to add to their defensive ranks and Emery seems to be keen on the £60m World Cup winner.
“He’s a very good player,’ Emery told RMC Sport.
“France has a lot of very good footballers who are playing abroad. ‘The French league is a very attractive market for a lot of teams. I’ve always had French players in my teams. At Valencia, Sevilla, PSG and here at Arsenal. I’ve always been able to count on those players.”
