Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira has already collected 4 yellow cards in the Premier League this season and is just one away from facing a 1-game suspension.
Some believe that it might be wise if Unai Emery sat the 22-year-old out for the upcoming fixture against Brighton And Hove Albion in hopes of keeping him for the Liverpool game after. However, the manager said, “In my career, I never made these decisions. We are going to play the next match in Brighton and we are going to play with a full team, not with considered options or playing with more caution.”
“The same three points are available in Brighton that are in Liverpool and we are going to play first in Brighton. It’s a tough match and we will need every player with 100 per cent focus to do everything on the pitch to win. So I don’t want him to think about the possibility of a suspension for one yellow card. I don’t want him to think about that.”
Torreira has been instrumental in Arsenal’s challenge for a top-four spot. The Uruguayan has quickly gained recognition due to his incredible defensive tenacity in the middle of the pitch.
Arsenal are level with Chelsea in the points table but are behind in the 5th spot due to a lower goal difference. Their away record was not the best last season but a win at Falmer Stadium could put the pressure on the Blues, going into the busy winter schedule.
