Unai Emery says Mesut Ozil is still very much in his plans despite not playing a part in the Carabao Cup quarter final defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.
The German international’s future remains a mystery and question has been raised whether he will continue for the Gunners beyond the January window. There is a possibility he could leave the Emirates Stadium next month.
The 30 year old started 10 matches in the Premier League this season and featured only 20 minutes in Arsenal’s 3-2 defeat against Southampton in the Premier League. The Gunners saw their unbeaten run ended in an unlikely manner and have registered two consecutive defeats in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
Emery reveals the playmaker would be available for the Burnley game this weekend. “Yes. I want every player with a good mentality to help us. He can give us his quality and his characteristics.
“We need Mesut Ozil.”
“Every player wants to play and help the team when we need them. The frustration is the same for everybody when they haven’t played a match.
“I have told him what we need from him. He has the commitment to help us and the quality and the characteristics to help us when the team need him on the pitch.
Tomorrow he is in the 18 players in the squad.”
