Unai Eery has refused to acknowledge Arsenal’s success despite guiding the Gunners to the Europa League final.
The North Londoners thrashed Valencia 4-2 courtesy of a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hat-trick at Mestalla to book a place in the final. Alexandre Lacazette scored the other goal as Emery now could realistically finish the season with a trophy in his maiden campaign.
The Spanish manager’s record in the Europa League is somewhat very impressive as he lifted this trophy consecutive three times during his stint with Sevilla.
It’s his experience of this tournament that the club wants to cash in and the Gunners still have high hopes of securing a Champions League spot next season by getting the better of their London rivals in the Final.
Emery said, “It’s not finished yet, there’s no success yet, we have to play the final.
“We are happy but we know that it continues to be difficult to win.
“We can be proud of the players, the work, the supporters here today with us. These two matches [Napoli in quarter-final and Valencia] were not easy and the mentality was perfect. We showed everyone today our character.
“We had good moments in the attacking third. Today we showed that we can do that.”
