Unai Emery has revealed he had the opportunity to bring Mohamed Salah during his stint at Paris Saint Germain but he wasn’t sure if the player would be able to cope up with the pressure.
Salah has been a game changer since his move to Liverpool from AS Roma and has been the most impressive player for the Reds. The Egyptian international scored a record breaking 44 goals last season but had looked a bit of exhausted at the start of the season as he failed to recapture the same form.
But the former Chelsea forward picked up his form and has been on a scoring spree for Jurgen Klopp’s side. With Liverpool set to host Arsenal on Saturday, the onus will be on Salah to deliver once again.
Emery said, “We spoke about the possibility to sign Salah to Paris Saint-Germain when he was playing at Roma.
“We had some doubts – and then he signed for Liverpool and these doubts he has broken at Liverpool. Now, if you are speaking about the five top players in the world, one is Salah.”
“Can he take the performance into one big team?
“For example like PSG in Paris. And today I can say to you…if we signed him, we signed one player in the top five in the world.”
