According to reports, Arsenal manager Unai Emery is prepared to sell as many as 7 players in the summer transfer window as he looks to strengthen the club’s squad for next season.
Emery has expressed his desire to spend big in the summer to make Arsenal as big a team as Manchester City and Liverpool.
There were several reports claiming that Arsenal will have only £40 million to spend in the summer transfer window. However, the club can raise funds by selling players in the transfer window.
The 7 players that Emery will reportedly sell are Shkodran Mustafi, Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mohamed Elneny, Carl Jenkinson, David Ospina and Calum Chambers.
Shkodran Mustafi has been struggling for Arsenal this season and has earned a plethora of criticism throughout the season. The German defender joined Arsenal from Valencia in 2016 on a transfer fee of £35 million but has not been able to live up to his price tag.
Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are two of Arsenal’s highest earners but haven’t done too well this season. Hence, Arsenal might consider selling them to raise funds and have a decrement in their wage bill.
Mohamed Elneny and Carl Jenkinson have been far from regulars for the Gunners this season. Thus, Arsenal will consider bringing in suitable replacements.
David Ospina and Calum Chambers are both on loan to Napoli and Fulham respectively. Both will most likely be sold.
The likes of Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech will leave the club this summer. While Petr Cech will call it a day on his illustrious footballing career, Ramsey will join Juventus.
It will be interesting to see how Arsenal do in the summer transfer window. The club hasn’t done too bad under Emery this season as they have a good chance of finishing the Premier League in the top four and have a chance of winning the Europa League.
