The Spaniard is keen to strengthen Arsenal squad this summer

Arsenal endured an underwhelming season as they failed to win any silverware in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign. They finished 6th in the Premier League and will miss the Champions League in the next season.

Unai Emery has been appointed as the new manager of the Gunners after Arsene Wenger left the the club at the end of the season and is is charged with the task of returning the club to the European elite while challenging for major honours.

The Spaniard has already completed the signings of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Bernd Leno. The club is also close to signing Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira.

Head of recruitment Sven Mislintat in overdrive seeking out buys and the the club are looking to bolster their front-line, after losing the likes of Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez in the past year.

Emery is looking to sign Real Madrid midfielder Lucas Vazquez, claims OK Diario. He thinks the player can be a difference maker in the Premier League, and is willing to make a decent offer to complete a deal.

The 26 year old has been at the La Liga club since 2007 and has scored 16 goals from 134 appearances in all competitions. Though he is largely a squad player is considered as an unsung hero, who has highly praised by former manager Zinedine Zidane.

The Spaniard played the most matches for the Spanish side last term, with 53 appearances in all competitions despite mostly coming from the bench. He scored 8 goals and provided 11 assist.

Former PSG boss is ready guarantee him regular football in the upcoming season and the club are willing to offer him around €8 million-a-year net, compared to the €3 million he earns annually in Madrid.

However, Los Blancos are adamant that Vazquez is not available for transfer and do not want to weaken their squad in the same way they did last season, selling the likes of Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez.
