Arsenall were eying a deal for Juventus defender Merih Demiral but are now likely to lose out on a deal for the 22 year old.
The Gunners appointed a new coach in Mikel Arteta back in December who made it clear that the squad needs to be revamped defensively.
He was given two low profile loan deals in Cedric Soares of Southampton and Pablo Mari from Brazil.
However, while Soares is still out injured, Mari only made his debut earlier this week.
The other central defenders in Arteta’s rank are error-prone Mustafi, the inconsistent David Luiz, the overaged Sokratis, the below par pair of Rob Holding and Calum Chambers.
This has led to Arsenal seriously preparing and tabling offers for defenders across Europe this summer with Demiral targeted as one of the priority signings.
However, if latest reports are to be believed, Juventus, Demiral’s current employers are not ready to let go off their youngster who spent an entire season out injured.
The Bianconeri are reportedly preparing a new offer that will extend Demiral’s stay at the club and rule out the possibility of him leaving the club.
If Arsenal does lose out on him, they will need to turn to more expensive options, which the club might not do given their chances of Europe remain slim.
