As the January transfer window approaches, the Gunners have been urged to sell their out-of-form forward, Alexandre Lacazette.
Mikel Arteta has laid out a pretty solid foundation to build upon. Off the back of an FA Cup win from last season, he will need to improve the team and it’s performance this term. That means shifting out pieces which do not quite fit.
Lacazette seems to have fallen into that category after continuously showing a heavy dip in form. The Frenchman’s barren scoring run is starting to weigh heavy on the team who are overall struggling for goals this season. He found the back of the net thrice this season in his first three Premier League games.
Arsenal continue to get linked with Dominick Szoboszlai and Houssem Auoar. Both players could cost a decent sum, especially the latter. Given how creativity is at the heart of Arsenal’s problems right now, signing them would be the only step forward.
Lacazette is playing into the final 18 months of his contract. Unless his performances change drastically, it might not be worth handing him a contract extension. The 29-year-old already is one of the team’s highest earners but shedding that off the wage bill could open up more doors.
