Mauricio Pochettino would be better suited to managing Arsenal than Manchester United, claims Ally McCoist.
The Argentine got fired from his position at Tottenham Hotspur and has been linked to both rival outfits in the past few days.
Unai Emery’s time at the Emirates seems to be up after a run of poor results this season. Arsenal have not decided on pulling off the sack just yet but they could be convinced now that Pochettino is available.
“Yeah I think so, I definitely think [a young team will be better for Pochettino],” McCoist said on The Debate. “If you’re asking me, I think he’d suit Arsenal’s squad more than he’d suit Manchester United’s squad. I think there’s a group of players at Arsenal he could work with immediately.
“I think Manchester United’s a far bigger job, by that I mean longer term, more of a rebuild. I think there are, at this moment in time, probably more players to work with at Arsenal. Manchester United fans might not agree with that.
“Yeah I do [think Emery is vulnerable]. I think he’s probably the most vulnerable, [Manuel] Pellegrini as well.”
Jose Mourinho’s response to Pochettino getting sacked – “First of all I do it with a bit of sadness, I have to speak about Mauricio. I have to congratulate him on the incredible job he did. I share with you what we shared inside. This club will always be his home, this training ground his training ground. He is always welcome here.
“Tomorrow is another day. He will find happiness soon. He will give everything like he did at this club. He will leave with sadness with the feeling that he did great work. It is what everyone at the club felt.”
