William Saliba’s future with Arsenal is uncertain right now as the January window approaches.
Representatives of the talented defender spoke with club officials regarding his situation.
After signing for €30m in 2018, Saliba has yet to make his debut for the Gunners. Mikel Arteta decided to leave him out of both his Premier League and Europa League squads this season. A loan move away fell through in the final moments and Saliba has been forced to play for the club’s U23s.
Now, Saliba could leave on a loan next month or be included in the senior team. Arsenal will have to submit a new squad post the winter transfer period which is bound to have a few changes.
Gabriel Martinelli is fit again and is likely to be included which would mean some other senior player getting dropped. Saliba’s situation is more dire. The Frenchman is obviously frustrated with how he has been treated despite arriving with a massive reputation.
As talks have progressed between both parties, AFC Bell claims all will be made clear soon. Saliba will likely see how the situation changes next month. If he is still treated as an outcast, the defender will likely pack up his bags and leave for good.
