William Saliba Showered With Praise From Former Gunner

Former Arsenal player, Mathieu Debuchy praised William Saliba after his return from injury with Saint Etienne.

The Gunners dished out €30m to sign him last summer, Both of the youngster’s compatriots, Debuchy and Yohan Cabaye hailed his future potential and the dedication he has shown to at such an young age.

“He’s a great player,” Debuchy said. “I’m so happy for him to play next season for a big club like Arsenal. He improves every game and I think he is a great player. He’s strong with good technique. He’s quick. I think he has a lot of quality to play at Arsenal.”

Arsenal will be an ideal destination for the young centre-back, according to ex-Newcastle man, Cabaye. He said, “He’s like a big man – he’s only 18 but he’s like a big man. The way he plays, him and Wesley Fofana are both fantastic. The future looks bright for them and I hope they continue in the same way.

“He’s strong and hopefully, he will adapt himself really quickly. In a club like Arsenal with French players, I think he can do really well.”

Arsenal did sign Pablo Mari this past month in hopes of reinforcing their backline. With David Luiz and Sokratis edging closer towards the end of their careers, Saliba is seen as the future star to take over the reigns from next season onwards.
